How to book

A guided tour of Australia's Parliament House (APH) can be booked in conjunction with the role-play program. This usually runs for one hour. For parliamentary sitting times check the Parliamentary sittings calendar.

Role-play essentials

Duration: One hour.

Availability: On the hour, 9am–4pm weekdays. Please book well in advance.

Suitability: Primary and secondary students.

Group sizes: Usually 20–50 students, but sometimes circumstances may require larger or smaller groups.

Role-play choices: The PEO will send you a role-play selection form about four weeks before your program. We advise you to discuss your choice with your educator when you arrive. View role-play choices.

Cameras: Teachers are welcome to photograph and film their students during the role-play. Please advise the PEO educator if you wish to do this.

Security: The role-play takes place in secure areas of APH. Students and teachers may not leave the area unaccompanied.

Responsibilities: School teachers retain a duty of care for the safety and wellbeing of their students at APH at all times.

Financial assistance

The Parliament and Civics Education Rebate (PACER) is an initiative of the Australian Government which provides some financial assistance for students across Australia to travel to Canberra to learn about civics and citizenship.
