I, Philip Michael Jeffery, Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia, acting under section 5 of the Constitution:

• prorogue the Parliament from 4.59pm on Tuesday, 31 August 2004, until Saturday, 9 October 2004; and
• dissolve the House of Representatives at 5pm on Tuesday 31 August 2004.
