Role-play toolkit: Assessment Rubrics
Parliamentary Education Office (PEO) role-plays encourage students to successfully integrate their knowledge, skills and attitudes in a dynamic and cooperative learning experience. Learning of this kind depends on an accepting and respectful classroom environment and on an individual and group capacity to engage positively in constructing a complete and meaningful picture of the Parliament.
In a deceptively simple manner, PEO role-plays are able to meet a range of curriculum requirements including:
- developing parliamentary understandings
- building interpersonal skills and cooperative behaviours
- building literacy and presentation skills
- building the capacity to debate real and current issues
- encouraging participation in school and society.
Three rubrics provide a framework for developing and assessing student outcomes. All statements are written to encourage innovation and experimentation. Learning about the Parliament should be a positive and invigorating experience!
