Following the federal election held on 3 May 2025, the Australian Labor Party (ALP) formed government after winning the support of the majority (more than half) of the 150 members elected to the House of Representatives. The Prime Minister, the Hon Anthony Albanese MP, and full ministry were sworn-in by the Governor-General at Government House in Canberra on 13 May 2025.

The 48th Parliament commenced on 22 July 2025 with an opening ceremony held at Parliament House.
